Since the inception of LEED, there has been a desire to measure and verify the performance of a building, at least through its warrant period. The required skill set is an in-depth understanding of control systems, and the technology or ability to collect data to validate the building’s performance when looking at multiple variables such as weather and building use. From experience, we’ve learned that to collect the necessary data, it is necessary to install a customized data collection system on top of the building’s systems so that analytical data is stored and reported in a useful format. We have provided this type of service for several projects where we installed an integration tool that communicates with multiple systems in the building, such as the BAS, electrical gear, and chillers, sorts the data, and reports it in a usable format that can be obtained through an internet connection to our integration tool.
